Doodles of Insomnia

I couldn't sleep last night. It happens every couple of nights, I can't sleep for one reason or another. I blame the fact that at school, I have to stay up late nights at the labs, and then sometimes follow that with some other homework, like Concept or a liberal arts class. Then an 8:30 class. So all in all....my body is sometimes like "Sleep? Forget about it, work instead!" at night.

So I decided to doodle in Painter (a program I RARELY use...Photoshop gets my nod more often) to keep me amused in the night. Interesting things came out...some random...some not so random. Like these two drawings....

We're planning on aging our characters two years sooner or later in the RPG world. So this is my first thoughts about Xavier two years later. I got the idea at Jingle Bomb 6 (A rave in Seattle earlier this month) to make him a DJ two years later...one of the youngest on the San Francisco/West Coast scene.

Furthermore...his family ties, his skill in hacking and infiltration, they earned him a spot in the CIA as again, the youngest agent there. He may look like he's old, but he's only 16. (He's just...really tall....yeah...when he was 14 he was 6'5"-and he hadn't really gone through the whole magical thing called "puberty"...so at 16 he's grown at least a couple of inches taller...) Something like that. I probably shouldn't spurt out all my plans as I don't want to spoil the surprises I'm cooking up for my friend K. (I have dibs on the next major events, dood. >_> )

Then...I doodled some more...random stuff. I decided I needed an exercise on anatomy....I went to this one bodybuilder's website (Markus Ruhl...freaking badass German guy..) ....and....obviously the anatomy corresponded into Matt. I'm actually pretty damn pleased with this picture. I freakin worked on this thing for like....4 hours, and these are just the pencils. I'll probably ink and color this one eventually...it's like...Matt's "fighting" picture like you would see in like a video game or something. Yeah, he's that cocky to only halfway bother guarding, lol. He's built like a freaking tank and has the powers of darkness on his side.

(Mind you, I probably once again exaggerated Matt's musculature a bit too much....but I don't give a care. My logic on this is that if anybody aside from his brother bothers to chide him for what he looks like...he'll smash them to the ground. He won't say why he looks like he does, but it amuses him, and that's all that matters in the end to Matt...life is there, humans are there, the fight is there...for his amusement.)

Anyways.....hmm....I still haven't done any work on my maquette. I hit a rut because I'm not sure whether or not I should double up the wire I have for the armature (it's that tie wire that was in the 3D Design studios last year...that stuff that spews grease onto your hands...), and if I am...I need to buy an effin drill. *sigh* Thank god there's an ACE hardware like....3 blocks from my house in Spokane. That would SO come in handy in Sarasota but pfft....Sarasota ain't as awesome as Spokane, PERIOD.

That's all for now....it's Friday tonight.... so it's time to have some more fun with friends. Yup.

Sit Stand Maquette

So, now that I've gotten the PRACTICE out of the way, now it's time for me to actually get cracking on my main maquette for my project. So first, I took my model sheet of my character, "Danny Moore", (I'll put that up later, I need color still- doh) that I had made last semester- and tried to pose him, actual size so I can use it as reference when making the maquette.

Eh...I like the front pose better, the side...eh...it's only to make sure I get the masses right. The Maquette, when finished, is going to be about 8 inches high...don't need anything bigger than that as I have to ship this thing to FL...god...I hope it don't break.

I'll get back to you with the next parts....I'm a little nervous about this next part- drilling holes in my base and making the wire armature- as last time I did it I sucked at it and the figure wobbled. >_<

Character Foolish Fun because I'm a Foolish Fool.

No, I haven't been playing Phoenix Wright recently. I left my DS in Sarasota, even. >_> But I felt like being Fransizka for a moment there.

ANYWAYS....I've just been fooling around with my RPG world. Yup. No,this world really doesn't have a name....it's had various sorts of things, like "Rebel Forces", and "The Resistance", but none of them have quite clicked with me and my buddy K yet.

Like I had said in my last post, I finished my Sculpey model of Matt. I posted it up on my deviantArt account, so you can click over here to see that.

Then, I may as well post more of the face turnarounds that I did....yay.

This guy is one of my friend K's NPC characters...he's the main antagonist, essentially a kinda crazy , mostly demon who was trapped in a crystal for 1000 years by his mother and father, and now seeks to destroy any trace of the family that he hated...which would have to be their descendants.

This sprightly young man would be my character that we're using to actually roleplay out whats's going to be our system. Xavier (Or Red-for his last name "Reddish") is a kid who got tossed from his wonderful city of San Francisco to New York by his father (military Intel dad uber-awesome), where he quickly ran into trouble and got caught up in the battle between Phoenix and the Barton descendants. He's a far, far removed descendant of Matt Barton...but in no way is he like him. He's a nerd who likes computers and in particular, has a skill in hacking, and he despises just about everything Matt and the rest of most of the Bartons and their descendants stand for.

A) Demons/Angel blood= He wants nothing to do with it. He sees Matt as a muscle-headed freak, a monster of a man who can only lead to trouble for Xavier...and as for angels, well, he wants nothing to do with them either because they intimidate him just like demons do.

B) He really does hate fighting, he's never been good at it and has a rather bad phobia about actually trying that he's still trying to get over...caused primarily because he saw his two older brothers die right before his eyes while he didn't have the strength to do anything about it.

(Jeez, now, obviously the computer influences...uh...computer animation kid....that and I was watching the movie "Hackers" when I invented him.)

Anything else about him, feel free to browse his need of an update bio page here.

Now, as some of the other pictures I've drawn about him say, Xavier has a backpack which he keeps various things in. Quoting The Incredibles...

"You know, you can tell a lot about a woman by the contents of her purse."- Mr. Incredible

Well, even though Xavier is a boy, I still thought....his personality can be further refined by the sorts of things he keeps in his backpack, ne? So I thought about it then quickly drew a decently easy to understand diagram....
Let's see.

Key (Hopefully you can see the Numbers in the drawings but it shouldn't be TOO hard to guess most of the objects):

(1): A bound notebook - For clues, doodles, mischief, maybe even hacking out a musical beat or two! (Xavier has a love of techno music...hmm...)

(2) Notebook Computer - As small as a book (think an ultra-thin laptop like the Asus EEE PC today), but has the power to H4CK N3TH1NG! Runs under a custom OS and is packed full of programs, both which were all painstakingly designed and compiled by either Xavier or his father...yeah, they're that good.

(3) "The Crash Box"- A module with more hacking/infiltration tools Xavier can use. There are electronics for hacking, and a compartment that opens with tools like Allen keys, wrench, etc,etc for physical infiltration.

(4) Digital Camera: You never known when there will be a KODAK (TM) Moment, or a piece of evidence crucial for..whatever. Xavier is always ready. (unless of course, his battery runs out...that's ALWAYS the bane of digital cameras.)

(5) Gum - Xavier makes sure to pop by the Japanese market every now and then to pick up this zany, caffieinated gum...(yes, it is actually a gum- I normally buy "BlackBlack" whenever I'm in Seattle from this place called "Uwajimaya", and hell, you can too!)

(6) Polaroid- The last picture ever taken when his two older brothers were still alive...when they were one big happy family. Xavier carries this around to remind him always, what's important to him. (I'm thinking of making another sketch detailing this picture...as..well...yeah...it looks pretty bad because it's so small...>_>...)

(7) BART System Map - Getting around the Bay Area is only a BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) train away. He used to live in San Francisco, remember? (I've ridden on one of these trains, I rather enjoy travelling to the Bay Area in the Summer...)

(8) MUNI System Map - However, in the heart of the city, ya also gotta know your MUNI subways, street cars, and buses! If you have both system maps, getting around San Francisco and the surrounding cities is a snap! (Also gone on the buses and street cars here...god, they're effin sardine cans!)

(9) Comb- For that wild head of hair Xavier has.

(10) Rogue's Saber- This is the old beam saber of the first leader of the main protection force of the government, at the moment named the "RA". He infiltrated the main headquarters with his two "friends" Andi and Keegan (II) and found this in an old training room. Although he doesn't "like fighting"...he'll use it...when he really, really has to.

(11) Flask- Xavier won't say what's inside this thing, so as for drinking outta it....do it at your own risk and don't blame me if something bad happens.

(12) Various wrapped Gummis- Xavier loves gummis. They're a perfect "To-Go" snack or 2 in the morning stress beaters. Kasugai Gummies in particular....Lychee flavored, please. (I do have to admit....this is an autobiographical point from me. I like gummies and Lychee Kasugai gummis=とてもおいしい。=D )

(13) Pencil, sharpener, eraser- For notebook writing/doodling.

I'm silly like this but oh well. Hee. So that's character stuff for you...I like where I'm going with this stuff and hopefully I'll have more time to work on it before I go back to school.

Christmas Cheer and Sculpey is Afoot!

Hey, peoples, yeah, I said I'd eventually get to putting some new stuff up here, and hey, well, I am now! And on the best day ever, Christmas! It's your christmas present, question mark?

Anyways, this is one of the things I've been up to this Winter Break, doing some of my own character work for a world that me and one of my internet friends (He shall be known as "K", yup) have been working on for quite some time. One of these days we'd like to create a RPG game of some sorts (Paper and Pencil probably, as a video game...oy...that's a hard thing even if I'm a CA...all the red tape with gaming studios....yeah...) out of it, so I'm saving myself some of the work when it comes time to that, and making turnaround stuff for most of the major characters and what not.

So first off, I've made several of these facial turnarounds...just because I like doing faces. (I'm getting to the whole body ones...hopefully sometime this week?). This one is of an NPC character I created, Matthew (Matt) Barton. Some of you folk on Zoot Suit know the name, but this version of Matt...isn't like the Zoot version. If Matt had to give his history in a short summary, well, it would go something like this:

"Hmph. There's alot to know about me. That's what happens when you've lived over 1000 years. Giving you the short story, I was born human, but through various unfortunate events, I've become literally, blood wise, more of a demon than a human. Furthermore, after living in your world for a long, long time, I decided to try more of a challenge than anybody on this plane (short of my brother- he's the only equal to me) could provide. So I jumped down to Hell, and 1000 years later, I'm the king of that world, king of demons. Pray that I never appear before any of you pathetic humans, as short of a holy miracle, there isn't a damn thing you can do to stop me if I decide to oh, wreck havoc on your life, destroy the place where you stand, or if you really piss me off, I wouldn't feel a twinge of guilt at all as I send you to whatever hell you'd like."

Yup. So, I've had Matt's look firmly planted in my head for awhile, so it wasn't too hard to whip out a turnaround for his face.

Hmm. He's my original muscle-headed arsehole.

Now, most of us CAs got assigned or "recommended" (Which I see as "do it", perhaps) that we make Sculpey maquettes of our characters for an assignment called "Sit Stand" next semester.

I was really out of practice on Sculpey since last year. I'm not even going to show what I had made last year in 3D Design...most of the sculptures I threw away, I was that displeased about them. Two of them, freakin duck things (or were they seagulls? Urgh...) survived, but that's all. I hated them.

So I felt like I needed to make something new before I even tried my hands at my character for Sit Stand. Matt got the nod for that, and using the turnaround sheet I made a little bust of him using some leftover Sculpey (white crud) I had from last year when I was making presents for people.

The first moral is that white Sculpey...oh....how I hate it. Crumbly crud compared to Super Sculpey (Which I didn't want to waste because I need it for my maquette). But aside from that...I had fun making it. It's not baked at the moment (I'll probably do that tommorow), and I'm planning on painting it if I have the right colors. (It's the paints for his skin color I'm not sure I have...)

So stay tuned, I'll have more to show you before this break is done, that's for sure! Sit Stand stuff....here I come. ^^

UGH!!!!

Holy shit, did time go by fast....ugh....yeah...i'm still alive. I've just been busy with my 3D animation courses (along side the other 4 classes, but mainly CA). Maya kicks my butt. A lot. And frequently.

Anyways...uh...I'll try and have something to show soon? Question mark? The semester is rounding up in 2 1/2 weeks so I'll be done fairly soon and I will have more free time...huzzah...

For now, have some Osaka and Chiyo-chan. Azumanga Daioh= daisuki and <3 =D

Back to school....back to school...back to school...

Well, it's the end of the summer, and I have to at least show SOMETHING sketchy before I leave for Sarasota. Because you know that my sketch productivity will slow down once you factor in other artwork (*cough*schoolwork*cough*). But here we go.

The internet RPG I'm in just took a...eh....roughly 1000 year time skip. Oh dear. Luckily, this world is based upon cyber technology, so I was able to keep the two characters I had that were still alive at the end of the last campaign ...I just had to skew with their appearances a bit. One of the characters, Matt Barton, you can see the inks of his picture (sorta) at my deviantART page. , under the title "Demon I Have Become-Inks". The other one, I'm still working on tweaking his look, but it's going to look something like this little thing I did in my sketchbook:

Yes, I know exactly what I wrote there in Japanese. If you can't read it (likely, my handwriting is getting worse from lack of practice...ugh), it says:

Top:

この男の人はトビアスバートンです。バートんさんはアメリカの遺伝学の一番権威です。バートンさんも世界の英雄、マシュウバートンの息子です。
Bubble:
めがねかけてから、オレは天才ですね。
Side (hard to see in scan):
バートン性の一番天才です!!

Or, in English:

Top:
This man is Tobias Barton. Mr. Barton is America's number one authority on genetics. Mr. Barton is also the son of the world hero Matthew Barton.
Bubble:
Because I wear glasses, I am a genius, you know. (Of course he's kidding, he has dry humor like that from all the eggheaded work he does. >P )
Side:
The Barton Family's No. 1 Genius!!

Oh, and today was my last day in Spokane, so what else did I do? Go downtown, that's what. Bought a carryon wheely luggage piece (my neat orange one broke in San Francisco and it didn't get back from the repair shop in Portland in time *sigh*), had a last drink at my favorite shop in town, Thomas Hammer. And I ended up wandering into a really neat store called "Paper Garden", which, well, sold of course, paper, along other things...including really neat journals. I found myself falling in love with one custom blank bound book, and, coming to the later part of my Canson sketchbook, I unfortunately get itchy to buy new ones even if I don't need them.

The best part about this one I fell in love with? It was made in Port Townsend, which sure...is the western side of the state, but it's still "local", still "WA state made" and not some far off place like France or Italy or whatever lots of my art supplies come from. I'm all for the local stuff, at least, I'm proud to be a WA state resident (even if Spokane is the hick city of the state. *sigh*) . Local stuff comes with a high price tag though. How High?

Ladies and gentlemen, if your eyes are bugging you and you don't believe that receipt...the bound book was 39.95, and, with tax, it came to a marvelous 43. 39. Call me insane for spending that much on what is going to be just a mere sketchbook for me, but it's just so awesome looking. Or as Johnny Depp would say, "So darn good lookin'! "

When I got home, and at the Hawaiian-Japanese ("Pacific") restaurant I ate at this evening as the "last meal" in Spokane, I drew the first drawing to try out the paper in this book,.

The paper in this book...has a pretty nice tooth to it, and as you can see, takes marker and ink pretty well. Which is a good thing, considering how much I spent on it....if it had a crappy paper I would have been a bit pissed off.

Anyways, this dude should look familiar. It's Xavier, my new RPG world character from my last post, I've finally gotten his look down pact (see my deviantArt page too for some more pics of him), hell, I can even draw him as a slightly deformed chibi. One that goes "Take That!" like but of course, Phoenix Wright. I've been replaying his games in preparations for the third game which is coming out for the DS in Japan the end of the month, and in the US October 23rd. I'm really tempted to buy the Japanese version just because damn Capcom USA takes too long. =_=

That's all I can think of for now worth showing. I'm off to Florida tommorow, and my next post....eh...will depend on how quickly I get the internet back or if I decide to wander over to Ringling's computer labs one day...

Till we meet again.

Hack the Planet 21XX style

Hello children. Sup. Time for more stuff out of my sketchbook. Today's entry is one of those random character designs. Well, rather, it was like midnight and I had a drawing ephipany or something.

So yeah. Here we have the beginnings of a character I'm planning on using to develop a RPG me and a couple of other people are fleshing out. I could say I probably had Hackers on the mind when I drew this, like Hackers the movie. Because one, his clothing is kinda 90's...not to mention, rollerblades? You don't see those everyday anymore, unless you like live in some urban city. (Which is what I kinda had in mind anyway.)

And as for his name? I think Xavier "Red" Reddish has a nice ring to it. I actually did know a guy when I was a kid by the last name of Reddish...Rob Reddish. Last I heard of him though he like, moved to Prince Edward Island or some other place around Maine...cuz he loved hockey and of course, Maine is big on that sport.

I'll probably get a character sheet done...eventually. >_>

I fished these images out of the Bay, fresh, to you.

And....I'm back from San Francisco.

And I did draw some while I was there. Not as much as I had hoped, but, oh well, we're not all perfect. So I'll show you what I was up to.

In Union Square, there was a collection of cable cars sitting there. I had bought earlier, when I was in the SOMA (South Of MArket) neighborhood trying to visit the MOMA *Which I never did...bah* and the Cartoon Art Museum (I saw original Winsor McKay drawings, w00t!) , I bought a Canson sketch pad and a couple of Tombow markers in greyscale. So I thought to try them out on this thing. Eh. Not bad. For refrerence I have the original digi pic I had taken before I started drawing....so I can have more fun trying to reproduce the complexity of the cable car later.

(Granted....I don't remember if I was standing up or sitting down when I took this picture, yes, angles and things are off from the sketch but that's fine.)

Then I tested them again later with a simple sketch of my buddy from my comic Moonlit Shadows, Reiner. Yes, I draw him obsessively. You're supposed to do that with your main character and what not I suppose. >_>

And of course I had tons of time to draw nonsense crap. The stuff on the right was me playing around with pose planning with the figure (not very well, mind you, eh), animation on the brain in a restaurant while my mother and a friend she hadn't seen in 6 years talked. And the boat on the left was from the window of a decently fancy (or at least EXPENSIVE) seafood restaurant
on Fisherman's Wharf...a boat. I didn't have a lot of time to do it so it's rather simple and proportions are out of whack. But I wanted to come back to the Wharf the next day, so the next day I got on a BART Train and a MUNI street car (yes, I could have taken the street car to the wharf all the way from Market, but I like BART better because its at least a little less crowded during rush hour.). I walked along the wharf, until I got to a spot I wanted to draw. It was by a little beach and pretty far down that area. And although I didn't put it in the picture...you could see the Golden Gate Bridge from it. Lovely.

I was by the water, and I wanted a quick color medium, so what better thing to use but water color, right?

Eh, I wish A) I had bought a Bulldog clip at the art store I bought the pad from, as the paper was blowing all over the place, screwing up the water color and B) that the sketch paper could have held more water before bleeding as that's why it looks cartoony at places....I eventually got tired of trying to make the water color do what I want so I screwed up some spots (ex, CA mountains are NOT that foresty) and ended up trying to use the gray Tombows and a Micron pent to further develop certain parts (It worked some places, others not.).

(Another thing I saw on Fisherman's Wharf....the largest collection of copies of Phoenix Wright ever in one place aside from a warehouse. 10 copies of the first game for DS just sitting there in a Gamestop on the wharf....and I was thinking as I looked at all of them "Not only did I pay like, twice as much as the 19.99 they're for now, I had to look EVERYWHERE for it...and here are 10 of them just sitting here??? Aw, phooey!". Hmm.)

So that was my trip art wise. But other than that....mmm...I went to Japan Town and bought lots and lots of Japanese manga from Kinokuniya bookstore there, so I'll be busy with those on and off.

And Oh, yes, the vast varieties of Asian food. I will miss that a lot. And oh, look:

The totally wicked awesome, Incredibly intricate plastic Japanese food models restaurants stick to make deciding your choice easier and what not (and they're just fun!). And one of those also increadibly, well, incredibly ANNOYING waving cats. There were like 5559384759 of them I saw in gift shops in not only Japan Town, but even downtown SF. >_>

Unfortunately, I didn't bring my camera to Fisherman's Wharf and Japantown, so those experiences I don't have any pictures about *Yes, I'm kicking myself in the arse for it*. Maybe next time as WA isn't too, too far away from CA..and hell....maybe I will go back to that area for a job. I seriously wish I could, because ZOMG, San Francisco. Such a great place. Sure, it's expensive, but the extra money is worth it for the great sights, great things to do, etc, etc.

So I'm back in WA state now, back to my summer...which I'm still trying to find a job. *sigh*. But of course that won't stop me from sketching, so you'll see more stuff here very, very soon.

Laterz.

There's a minibar with vodka....but I can't have any.

Well, I'm here in San Francisco, typing on the internet that is costing me 12.95 a day. Jeez, what happened to the words "Free Internet" people?? My mom will probably be a little peeved at the cost, but, um...it's hard to live without internet, people. I need it to see where the hell I'm going in San Francisco, mainly, as I don't do well with the whole "asking for directions" thing.

And as my title says, there's a minibar that has a bunch of alcoholic drinks, including Vodka...I know a friend of mine who lives (or lived, I dunno if he still does) in NY state wouldn't mind a minibar with Vodka in it. I'm really tempted to touch something in there, as there's not only Vodka...but like....Scotch, whisky, imported wines....Heineken....urghhhhh....but considering that would be underage drinking I think not. Now that I think about it...yeah. It's not that exciting and I can wait until I'm 21. Yep.

I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do today, but I'll figure something out. My mother is at her conference right now but because the admission was like 300 dollars I get to spend a week doing whatever I want aside from being with her. So...um...yeah.

*Horns and tin whistles sound* And now it's time for a sketch post! Nothing complicated, just something I did when I was waiting for food last night at the Cheesecake Factory that's on like the 8th floor or something of a Macy's building. So I could see lots of...high up stuff.

As you can see, I'm downtown with all the frilly stuff like Tiffany's and Saks 5th Avenue. Bah. And if you can't....well.... I'm SOOO out of practice when it comes to sketching. *sigh* Guess I'll go do some more today and since I probably will only have the internet today (unless my mother admits that the world needs the internet to function)...I'll get back to you at the end of my trip or something.

Later.

I give you...a boot to the head! Okusenman!

Hello. Yeah. I may have picked a weird time to start up a blog, because I'm going to be in San Francisco for a week from the 28th to the 3rd of June. I'm bringing a computer though, so I can post at least while I'm in CA...just....not do any nice Photoshop blah blah blah because obviously I will not have access to a scanner.

I do plan on doing some sketchbook stuff while I'm there though, so if my silly digital camera cooperates, I can show some drawing maybe, but if not, I will post them when I get back.

Oh, and this song I found, called 「 ロックマン2 おっくせんまんっ!」, AKA simply "Okusenman" or "100 billion"...is addicting.....somehow. I found it on YouTube while searching for Phoenix Wrong videos (Yes, I am one of those Phoenix Wright fans...Take That!) . In general, I like Capcom stuff, and of course, Megaman was my first love from Capcom. =P . So this video cracks me up. Sure, it has NOTHING to do with Megaman aside from the tune (Dr. Wily's Theme from Rockman 2...), the lyrics are about some guy whining about his lost memories as a kid (Like "Ultraman, Ultraman Seven!")

(The original version is REALLY annoying though, it's rock styled with a guy who can't sing on key. I posted the "Hardcore Mix" which has a better singing voice for your ears. You can find the orignal on YouTube if you care that much.)

Yup. Now I'm going to go sketch and maybe by the end of the night I'll have something up. But I also have to pack for CA a little still so I dunno.

じゃあ待ったね!

紹介な...Introductions

Oh, dear. I forgot that I had this blog here. Well, uh, yeah. Name's Rogue, and as the title says, I'm a student at Ringling School (*Or should I say, Ringling College, I'm still not used to that*) of Art and Design in Sarasota, FL, majoring in Computer Animation.

I probably should have written about my freshman year, as I am now a sophmore. Oh, sorry. Well, my freshman year was pretty damn crappy anyways. So I'm sorry to all you people expecting posts about my "freshman year", because I really don't feel like it. But I'll give you incoming froshes a little tip or two:

- If you can- New Student Center (NSC, might just be called "Student Center" now, dunno) dorms will save you many days of dragging crap up and down stairs of the other dorms, not to mention they're nicer. Unfortunately some of them are triples now (WTF are they thinking??) , so I'm not sure how that will change the atmosphere of that place.
- Look at those damn syllabuses. The teachers will grind you if you don't and then you come to them with problems come midterms.

CA Specifics:
-Yeah, I'd agree with Syllabuses I said before.
- You will learn to hate History of Animation's multiple choice tests, but they ARE tameable if you take the time to study.
- TA will also prove a challenge if you were like me, 18, fresh out of high school, and hardly any apparently "useful" art skills even after a semester of work. Be prepared to have your spirits crushed and your hopes killed, but never give up.
-Just don't plan on getting much sleep. And any big projects like "comic book work" like I tried to do at the same time as animation? You'd better be REALLY good at time management or else you'll have to drop the "projects" like I did.

Hmm, yeah. That's about it for me and my freshman year. Some other time I'll tell you everything, as seriously...I didn't have a good freshman year, so I'm trying to start new on this one. This journal will pretty much serve as a sketchblog sort of thing until I get going on animation and blah blah blah stuff when I get back to school in August. Somewhat. Depending on how my teachers are, they may not want things online until they grade them. (My teacher in TA last year was like that.)

Yes, for English people/if my Japanese is THAT rusty: I can speak Japanese. At my high school in Spokane, WA, for four years I studied Japanese, with a teacher that was actually Japanese to boot. But, I'm not very good at Japanese conversations. *Out of practice. A LOT.* But I can read and write Japanese better than I can speak it. ...because in my free time I enjoy Japanese video games and manga so that's how I keep my reading and writing skills relatively sharp. My listening skills aren't half bad either. Anime is okay, but I don't watch it often. But I love Dragon Ball! And Japanese comedy like Downtown! <3!

So yeah, I have some skill in Japanese, but please excuse any crap I may throw out. I haven't had a real Japanese speaking buddy (aside from anime people who I can "get away" talking like Naruto or something because otherwise they won't understand what I'm saying *sigh*) for awhile and I'm rusty. But unlike most, I'm not afraid of sounding like an idiot while speaking Japanese, and I give this reason: You'll never get better unless you practice. So yeah. I'll sound like a "gaijin" (foreigner), but I will never let that embarass me, and for those of you who think it would be embarassing to speak Japanese even if I'm not in Japan and if I'm not Japanese.....静かにしてください。=P

Alright, this post is long enough. Later.
