New WIP-Alex

Eh, it's coming along, I guess...still not done, as the hair I'm still working on, and certain parts need more detail (his patch, his jacket, maybe still his face and arms...).

(Gawd, I really HATE doing hair....it takes....FOREVER....to finish it where it actually looks right....especially people with light colored hair...more reflections and shades to see than with black hair...)

WIP-Soldiers

I got bored last week and randomly decided to try and do a digital painting. I really do dislike them, it has to do with how I can't draw nearly as long without my hand cramping up on my tablet.

Anyways, I had made one, of another one of my characters, a Japanese soldier named Ryusho "Rogue" Takayama.



This week I'm making his comrade in arms and 2nd in command, "Zero". He's more of my friend's character, but when it comes to the visual conceptual magic that's all my doing. For the time being, I've named him Alexander (Alex) "Zero" McNeill, but that may change.

He's currently a WIP, as I only threw...maybe 3 or 4 hours worth of time last night into this. I'm a slow painter. >_<




For easy viewing convenience and to show where this is going, I seperated my linework from my painting. Normally, I have the linework at a lower opacity, paint with it on for the rough work (like how his jacket is right now), then turn it off and finish up the details (like his face- needs more works still but I'm working on other parts first).

*blinks*

Shoot. Er, I'm sorry.....I kinda got caught up in something called summer. Now the summer is nearly over and I'm about to go back to school again. Er.

I don't know how many people actually actively read this thing anyways. As far as I'm concerned it's yet another page of myself that really, only myself looks at, ya know? I'm not exactly famous yet, nor do I really want to be at this moment.

Anyways...er.....well, I've just been sketching around this summer. I made a decision last semester to change my major from Computer Animation to Illustration, where I'm going to be entering this year as a 2nd year transfer, so I hope I will learn lots of new things that I'm better at, and that the focus of my art will be changing for the better in the next few months. Tabun da zo. (Probably).

For archival purposes, I'm leaving the animation-related work from previous posts up, but let it be well known that I really hated the vast majority work I did last semester. It was not the best I knew I could do AT ALL. Not that much of it is up here, trust me, what ISN'T up here, short of say, one 3D project, I HATED IT ALL.

Er, so I probably should put something up here to show what I'm up to? Maybe? Er....okay...here's the first two pages (inked, but not shaded/colored yet) of a comic project I was slowly working on. I've been having a couple of motivation issues concerning this, probably because half the characters in this world (the same one I've jabbered about time and time again- No, I'm not a broken record, I can draw other things...I just don't have them scanned or digital really.), I didn't create, my friend did, and I've been going through a quiet lull with him contact wise because he's in the military. To the point where I'm concerned I may have to edit his characters out, which would be A LOT of work that would hurt me a lot to do...but hopefully I'll hear from him again so I can get his okay eventually bout it all. The first issue (which will be a stand-alone one shot just in case it epicly fails or somethin'.) I've written up doesn't have any of his characters in it, but after that is a different story.
